Here’s an example of a wood tool chest I build. It costs a lot less than a traditional metal tool chest and looks nicer (I think).

The ten shallow drawers hold a surprising amount of tools and woodworking equipment. I designated one type of tool to one drawer for tidy organization.

The scoop handles allowed me to keep the drawer depth while not having to buy twenty expensive handles. I also don’t like the way my legs and pockets catch on drawer knobs and pulls in my shop. The flush, clean look fits in nicely.

The sides are floating panel construction. The panels are solid oak as well.

Like any dresser or drawered piece, I make sure to not open more than one drawer at a time. If I did, the front-loaded weight would surely tip it over.
